Ask family and friends to start your website
Share your team's sponsor link so family and friends can pay for months of your website once — no account, nothing renews.

What you need first
- You are the team's owner or an admin.
- Your team has no website yet, or its website has gone offline because its subscription or free access ended. A team whose site is live is sponsored from its site's Sponsors page instead — see Sponsor a team's site.
- A team in an organization has no sponsor link: the organization pays for its teams.
Steps
Step 1: Find the card
No website yet: open Get a site in your team's admin. Website offline: open Billing.
You should see: a card named Ask family and friends to start your website (on Billing, Your site is offline. Family and friends can bring it back), marked Link on, with your link under Your link.
Step 2: Copy the link or the ready message
Press Copy link to copy the link alone, or Copy message to copy a short message with the link in it.
You should see: Link copied or Message copied. Paste it into a family chat, a text or an email.
Step 3: Add a note for guests (optional)
Type a short note under A note to guests (optional) — who you are and why you'd like a website, up to 200 characters — then press Save note.
You should see: the note saved. Guests see it as plain text, so links and formatting show as typed.
Step 4: Check what guests see
Press See the page guests see, under the link.
You should see: a new tab with your team's name, its game, your note, and the months a guest can choose. Guests see nothing else about the team — no roster, members or logo.
How to know it worked
- Your link is on the card, marked Link on.
- When a guest pays, your team's owners and admins get a notice with the guest's name and the months, and an email.
- The months show on Billing. A team with no website can then set its site up from Get a site; an offline site comes back online as you left it, and editing reopens.
Something doesn't look right?
Someone shared our link where it shouldn't be
Press Make a new link, then Make a new link again in the box that opens. The old link stops working at once: anyone who opens it sees that it isn't available. Send the new link to the people you want. Your note is kept.
We don't want any more sponsors for now
Press Turn off the link. Anyone who opens the link sees that it isn't available, and months already given stay yours. To start again, press Turn the link on — that makes a new link, so send the new one.
I can't find the card
The card shows only while your team has no live website, on Get a site before a first site and on Billing once a site is offline. A team in an organization has none. A team with a live site is sponsored from its site's Sponsors page.
A guest says payment didn't finish
If they left the payment page before paying, nothing was charged; they can open the link again. See Sponsor a team's site.
