Stream from Discord

Schedule your stream, go live, end it and announce it with /stream in your team's Discord server — the bot posts "goes live" and LIVE NOW for you.

For team owners and admins · 8 steps

What you need first

  • Your team's Discord server is connected to Spawnfront (Connect your Discord server), and your Discord account is linked to your Spawnfront account (run /link-profile once).
  • You are the team's owner or an admin (or an admin of its organization).
  • Your team has a site subscription: streams play on your team's website.
  • For the bot's posts, your team has an Announcements channel chosen on the Discord page.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Start /stream schedule

In your server, type /stream schedule and pick it from Discord's list.

You should see: the options day, time, length, title, match and, if several of your teams share this server, team.

  2. Step 2: Pick the day

Click day and pick from the list: Today, Tomorrow, or a date in the next two weeks.

  3. Step 3: Type the start

Click time and type the start your way — 7pm, 19:00 or 19.30. Pick the suggestion that matches. Times are in your team's time zone, named in the suggestion.

  4. Step 4: Choose how long, a title and a match

Pick a length from 1 to 6 hours (3 if you skip it). Optionally type a title your visitors see above the player, and pick the match you are streaming from the suggestions.

  5. Step 5: Send it

    Press Enter.

You should see: a card only you can see, Stream scheduled for your team, with the time, the channel, the title and the match, and the buttons Announce now, Edit, Cancel stream and Open on Spawnfront. There is nothing to publish: your site counts down on the day and shows the player when the stream starts.

  6. Step 6: Announce it, edit it or cancel it

Press Announce now to post "goes live" in your announcements channel straight away — otherwise the bot posts it at 09:00 on the day (the day before, for a stream that starts by 09:00), and posts LIVE NOW when the stream starts. Press Edit to change the day, start, length or title in a form, or Cancel stream to take it off your site.

  7. Step 7: Go live now, or end early

Type /stream now to show your stream on your site from this moment (pick a length), then press Add an hour if you need longer. Type /stream end when you finish early — your site stops showing the player; your stream on Twitch keeps running until you stop it there.

  8. Step 8: See what's coming

    Type /stream list.

You should see: Up next for your team, and a list to Pick a stream to edit or cancel.

How to know it worked

  • On the day, your site counts down to the stream; when it starts, Twitch's player is at the top of your home page.
  • Your announcements channel gets "goes live" and LIVE NOW posts with buttons to watch on your site and on Twitch.

Something doesn't look right?

It says Add your Twitch channel first

Your team has no Twitch channel in Socials. Type /stream channel with your channel's address (for example https://www.twitch.tv/yourchannel), or add it in Socials on Spawnfront. An organization's team has no Socials of its own: name the channel on the stream on Spawnfront's Streams page.

It says Streams play on your team's website

Streams need your team's site subscription. Press See plans to get a site.

It says Only my team's owner or admins can set streams

Only the owner and admins can schedule streams. Ask one of them, or ask the owner to make you an admin.

It says This overlaps another stream

Your team can have one stream at a time. Change the start or the length, or cancel the other stream with /stream list.

It asks Which team is this for?

Several of your teams share this server. Pick the team in the list, or add the team option next time. The team option takes your team's name or its full name, like Blades · Team 1; when two of your teams share a name, type the full one.

I don't see /stream

Ask your server's admin to check the Spawnfront bot is in the server and connected to your team. Commands can take a minute to appear after the bot is updated.
